MacDowell’s diverse membership spans a wide variety of musical experience. We reside in the Fox Cities of Wisconsin; from Green Bay to Waupaca to Oshkosh, and all communities in-between. Although we hail from all walks of life, our common interests of camaraderie, community, and love of singing have made us a unified group for 91 years.
Rehearsals are held every Monday evening after Labor Day starting promptly at 7:00 P.M. in the St. Francis Xavier High School chorus room in Appleton. The year concludes with the annual business meeting in mid-May, and we enjoy a short summer break.
MacDowell Male Chorus is now welcoming new members for its 2024 – 2025 season!
Voice Placement sessions with the conductor are held 6:30 – 7:00 P.M., before the regular Monday rehearsals. Try outs are low stress and you don’t need to prepare beforehand. This meeting allows the conductor to determine your vocal range. The two of you will decide your voice: 1st tenor, 2nd tenor, baritone, or bass.
Ideally, new members join in the fall to prepare for the Spring Concert Season. However, interested candidates are welcome to attend any rehearsal to gain a better understanding of who we are, and may join as Non-Performing members later in the year with the objective of becoming full performing members the following season.
Please email our membership chairman Rick Stark at join@macdowellchorus.com or call (920) 460-9884 for more information on how to join.
