About the MacDowell Male Chorus – Appleton, Wisconsin

Founded in 1934, the Appleton MacDowell Male Chorus is one of the longest continuously running male choruses in the United States. The inspiration behind our name was the noted American composer, Edward MacDowell (1860-1908). We have performed more than 2400 times in more than 75 cities throughout the Midwest and Canada. The men have over 1000 works covering a wide range of musical styles in their repertoire, of which 25-30 are selected to perform each spring from memory. One weekend a month from October through April we give the church choirs a break and donate our talents to a variety of congregations throughout the Fox Valley. We average between 80-100 members; membership is open to all post-high school males who enjoy singing.

The MacDowell Male Chorus is incorporated as a 501,c{3} Non-Profit organization. It is governed by a board of directors consisting of 8 officers, elected by the membership at the annual business meeting in May.  Read More…
